SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (12-6, 6-2 CC) was defeated by No. 23 Swarthmore (16-4, 8-0 CC), 4-1, in the Centennial Conference (CC) Championship match Sunday afternoon at the Mullan Center. The Garnet won two doubles matches and three singles matches to earn its first conference title since 2006.
F&M earned a win in the No. 3 singles match with
Natalie Untermeyer defeating her opponent, 6-3, 6-3, to pick up her 13th singles' victory of the year.
Sahara Ahmad was narrowly defeated in the No. 2 match as she fell in three sets. Ahmad won the first set, 6-3, but her opponent claimed the next two to take the match.
Franklin & Marshall finishes its season ranked No. 8 in the region with a 12-6 overall record and 6-2 CC record, highlighted by making its first-ever appearance in the Centennial Conference Championship match.
