LANCASTER, Pa. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced that three Franklin & Marshall student-athletes have been recognized as All-Academic Athletes by the national coaching organization. The award honors success both in the classroom and in the sport during the 2024-25 academic year.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30. Additionally, the student-athlete must have qualified for either the indoor or outdoor NCAA track championships or finished the season ranked in the top 50 nationally in an individual event or top 35 in a relay event.
Lauren Dunnigan earned this award after qualifying for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships with the 12th-best time in the 60 meter hurdles after yet another school record time at the regional championship meet with a time of 8.73 seconds.
Mackenzie Ward earned this honor after winning the outdoor regional championship with a school record of 41.46 meters in the javelin to rank 17th in all of Division III. She was even stronger in her national championship debut as she placed 13th to earn second-team All-America recognition for the first time in her career.
Justin Kolpan had a season-best javelin throw of 65.47 meters at the Muhlenberg Invitational which extended his own school record. Kolpan's mark was the eighth-best in Division III heading into the national championships where he would climb to seventh in the final individual standings. That finish gave him first-team All-American recognition for the first time in his career after second-team All-America honors during the 2024 season.
