Women's Soccer Eases Past Elizabethtown, 5-1

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (2-0) netted five goals in its home opener against Elizabethtown (1-1), 5-1, in Tuesday's non-conference matchup under the lights at Tylus Field. Katherine Finnerty and Ellison Errington paced the F&M offense by scoring two goals apiece to lead the Diplomats to their second win of the season.

F&M got the scoring started in the seventh minute of the match as Julianna Sirico's entry pass was headed in front of the net by Zoe Warne, setting up Finnerty for her first goal of the season.

The Diplomats added insurance with seconds remaining in the first half as Lillian Williams fired a shot that was saved. However, the rebound bounced to Errington who buried her shot into the back of the net for her first score of the new season. Errington wasn't done just yet as she scored her second goal of the game off a corner kick in the 51st minute to extend the lead to 3-0.

Elizabethtown responded with a score in the 56th minute to cut their deficit to 3-1. However, F&M went right back to work as Colleen Ferrarese connected with Emerson McDonald for McDonald's second goal of the season. Finnerty capped the Diplomats' scoring in the 83rd minute as she fired a shot past the goalkeeper for her fourth career goal.

Ferrarese recorded two assists, while Lillian Kleiman, McDonald, Sirico, Warne, and Williams all tallied one in the win. F&M outshot Elizabethtown, 21-3, in the contest with McDonald leading the Diplomats with six shots.

Franklin & Marshall looks to extend its winning streak when it hosts No. 13 Washington & Lee Saturday at noon.
