CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (6-1-1, 2-0 CC) used two second half goals to push past Washington College (4-2-1, 0-1 CC), 2-1, in Wednesday evening's Centennial Conference (CC) matchup.
The Shorewomen took an early 1-0 advantage, finding the back of the net just 28 seconds into the contest. Despite trailing on the scoreboard, F&M outshot Washington College, 6-3, in the first 45 minutes of play.
Franklin & Marshall started the second half capitalizing on a great opportunity on offense, earning a corner kick in the 52nd minute.

Emerson McDonald in front of the Shorewomen net. After McDonald's first shot was saved, the
Meg Balerna fired a second shot into the back of the net to tie the game. The goal was Balerna's third score of the season, while McDonald was credited with her assist of the fall.
In the 68th minute, McDonald found the back of the cage by rocketing a shot from distance to put the Diplomats ahead, 2-1. The score was McDonald's fifth goal of the season and second game-winning goal of the year.
With 1:09 remaining in the contest, the game was called due to lightning in the area.
Franklin & Marshall outshot Washington College, 16-9, in the contest. F&M also generated 10 corner kicks in the win. McDonald led the game with six shots, while
Meg Balerna and
Kate Boujoukos recorded three each.
Franklin & Marshall sets its sights on Saturday's road matchup with No. 19 Swarthmore, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
