LANCASTER, Pa. – Kyle Evancho was named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after helping the Franklin & Marshall football team to a 31-21 victory during the season opener at Lebanon Valley. The player of the week honor is the first of the senior's career.
Evancho made his biggest impact when he came up with a crucial blocked punt that jump-started the Diplomats' offense that helped them to their eventual win. That blocked punt led to F&M's first touchdown of the game which tied the score at seven before the team ran off 17 unanswered points. In addition to his highlight play on special teams, Evancho made three tackles in the secondary to aid the team's season-opening victory.
With a win in the season opener, the Diplomats will now turn their attention to the home opener which is set for this Saturday, September 13 at 1 p.m. inside Shadek Stadium. The matchup with Westminster (Pa.) will be the first ever meeting between the two programs.
