Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Donadoni Brace Leads No. 9 Field Hockey Past No. 15 Cortland, 3-0

CORTLAND, N.Y.- The No. 9 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (8-1, 1-0 Centennial Conference) concluded non-conference play with a 3-0 victory at No. 15 Cortland (8-1), ending the Red Dragons' undefeated start to the 2026 season.

Molly Donadoni had her first multi-goal game, recording a brace in the win. Caitlin Hoover contributed the other goal and led the side with eight total shots. Megan Dadio had six shots and a team-best four shots on goal. Hannah Fitzgerald and Sarah Weitzman recorded one assist apiece. Meghan Dole made six stops to complete her fourth full-game shutout of the season.

F&M held a commanding 32-10 advantage in shots and outdrew Cortland in shots on goal, 10-6. The Diplomats had 20 penalty corners against six from the Red Dragons, including eight apiece in the first and fourth quarters.

F&M registered a game-best 11 shots in the first period, as the Diplomats saw six shots blocked, two shots saved, and Caroline Krisko shot off the post before Donadoni broke through on the tenth attempt. The goal came following a Maya Rorick shot from the edge of the circle that was saved plus a Megan Dadio attempt that was cleared off the goal line. That defensive clearance found Donadoni who collected the ball and put a backhanded attempt from the penalty spot low and to the keeper's right to open the scoring.

F&M totaled five more shots in the second period but was unable to challenge the Red Dragons goalkeeper to give F&M a 1-0 halftime lead. Through the first 30 minutes, F&M held a 16-1 advantage in shots.

After registering six shots and two shots on target in the third quarter, the Diplomats were able to break through again four minutes into the fourth quarter with a goal from Hoover. After Hoover was dispossessed driving towards the goal line, Bella Konchar won an errant pass outside the circle and played a forward pass to Fitzgerald. She then played a square pass to Hoover in the middle of the circle. She created space away from her defender and fired a pacy shot into the bottom-left corner of the cage.

Donadoni added her second goal of the game less than a minute later from a penalty corner. Dadio's injection was played to Weitzman on the near side. She a ball on the frame of the cage before finding Donadoni unmarked in front of the keeper for a redirect to the far post. The two goals capped a period where F&M registered ten shots. Dole made five saves of her six in the fourth period, as the Red Dragons registered nine of their ten shots.

The Diplomats continue Centennial Conference play with a trip to Gettysburg on Wednesday, October 7, at 4 p.m.
