WESTMINSTER, Md.- Despite maintaining a 13-7 shot advantage across the 90 minutes, the Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (5-2-3, 2-1-2 Centennial Conference) were held to a scoreless draw at (RV) McDaniel (6-2-4, 2-1-2 Centennial Conference) on Wednesday evening.
Lucy Fleming made six saves for her second-straight clean sheet and her sixth of the 2026 season.
Katherine Finnerty led the chance creation for the Diplomats, totaling five shots and two shots on goal.
F&M outshot the Green Terror 8-1 in the first 45 minutes with two shots on target. Finnerty generated the first chance in the fifth minute on a ball over the top, but her effort from the edge of the box narrowly missed the keeper's bottom-right corner. Fleming made her lone stop with a routine save on an outside-of-the-box attempt in the 12th minute. After having a shot blocked from about 15 yards away, Finnerty had F&M's best chance of the half in the 23rd minute thanks to a wall pass with
Ashley Inacio in the middle third of the field that put her one-on-one with the keeper, although her chance from 12 yards away was denied by McDaniel's goalkeeper. F&M had four more shots in the remaining time but no clear-cut chances.Â
McDaniel held a 6-5 shot advantage in the second half. Their best chance of the game came inside of the first three minutes of the second half. A long-range set piece ball came off a Franklin & Marshall defender and fell to a Green Terror player around ten yards from goal. Her Fleming closed down her volley attempt to keep the game level. Ferrarese had the next-best chance on goal in the 57th minute, as her edge-of-the-box shot sailed a couple of feet wide of the far post. Finnerty had a ball headed down to her in front of goal by
Emerson McDonald, but her defender cut off her angle at goal for a blocked shot from six yards away. The sides traded half chances over the final 30 minutes, with the best chance coming from Finnerty in the 87th minute. A McDonald through ball gave her a chance on goal from a tight angle, but her low effort from ten yards away was collected by the keeper at the near post.
F&M will look to break a 329-minute scoreless drought when they conclude non-conference play on the road at Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday, October 11, at 2 p.m.
