LANCASTER, Pa. – Dave Gable '86 has been announced as an inductee of the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Gable was one of the highly accoladed individuals who received the "Lifetime Service to Wrestling" award, presented to individuals who have given at least 20 years of service to the sport as a coach, official or contributor.
During his career with the Diplomats, Gable was a three-time EIWA place winner who finished as high as third at the conference championship during the 1984 season after registering a 21-5 record. He would place fourth at the EIWA Championships during both the 1983 and 1986 championships while hampered by injury during his junior season. Assuming the role of a team captain during his sophomore season, Gable twice advanced to the NCAA Division I Tournament during the 1983 and 1984 seasons.He finished his career with a 62-25-2 career record and won 60 percent of his matches by bonus points during his senior campaign.
Even after graduating from Franklin & Marshall, Gable stayed connected to the sport of wrestling as Dallastown High School's boy's wrestling head coach. His remarkable success continued in the coaching ranks where he compiled a 340-109-1 record over 28 years. During that time, his teams won 14 YAIAA championships and claimed three District III team championships. In recent years, Gable was instrumental is starting the girl's program at Dallastown where they have already won two league championships. In total, 26 boys have placed at the PIAA Tournament under Gable's leadership – while 15 individuals have combined for 18 District III individual titles.
