LANCASTER, Pa. – James Conway added one more milestone to his legendary wrestling career as he was named a College Sports Communicators first-team Academic All-American. Conway is the 43rd student-athlete in F&M history to earn Academic All-America recognition, with his first-team honors making him the 10th student-athlete to receive this distinction.
Conway became the first wrestler in school history to earn Academic All-America status when he was named a second-team selection during the 2024 season where he was additionally recognized as the NCAA Elite 90 recipient. Conway is the first Diplomat since softball player Jamie Belfer '22 to earn first-team recognition from the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Team.
The recent graduate with a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology was selected as part of the at-large team which recognizes individuals from sports that do not have a dedicated sport team. Conway was one of just two Division I wrestlers in the entire country to earn first-team Academic All-America recognition.
Conway graduated as a three-time team captain who earned 108 career wins and finished his senior campaign with a 35-4 record. In his final season, he ranked as high as No. 4 in national polls and earned his second trip to the NCAA championship. He earned individual titles at the Southeast Open, Keystone Classic, Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, and David H. Lehman '68 F&M Open. Conway was the first F&M student-athlete in any sport to receive the Elite 90 Award for the highest grade point average at an NCAA Championship, and he was also a four-time Scholar All-American.
