LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team earned their first medal of the Centennial Conference Championship via
Delphine Brown's 500 freestyle bronze, while
Grace Kovach established a new program record in the 50 freestyle in a swim-off to qualify for the B Final.
Brown's time of 5:02.65 earned the first-year swimmer third place and her first collegiate medal, while her time now stands as the fifth-best in program history.
In a swim-off against teammate
Matti Harvey for the final spot in the 50 freestyle B Final,
Grace Kovach set a new program standard of 23.96, dethroning Julie MCFadden '23's time of 24.06 set in 2022. She claimed sixth place in the B Final.
Madi Bickford also surpassed McFadden's time with her B Final performance, as she earned third place in the event with a time of 24.02 to move into second place.
An early take-off in the 400 medley relay A Final resulted in a disqualification for the Diplomats, while the B Team of
May Hartog,
Riley Reader,
Caitlin Barr, and
Ava Tseng claimed 14th overall.
Through day two, F&M ranks in fifth place with 103 points.Â
The Diplomats return to the Kunkel Aquatic Center on Saturday with preliminaries at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m. The day's events include the 200 freestyle relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke.Â
