LANCASTER, Pa.- The (RV) Franklin & Marshall men's basketball team (22-5, 10-3 Centennial Conference) will learn the team's destination for the opening weekend of the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament during this afternoon's 1:00 p.m. selection show.
Franklin & Marshall will play in the program's 27th NCAA Tournament, marking the second appearance under head coach
Nick Nichay. The Diplomats enter this year's NCAA Tournament following a third-consecutive season of 20-plus victories and a Centennial Conference Tournament semifinal appearance. F&M lost to the tournament's eventual winners Gettysburg, 69-45 after securing an 80-59 win over Swarthmore in the First Round. The NCAA Tournament is comprised of 64 teams that include 43 automatic qualifications via conference championships alongside 21 at-large bids determined by the NCAA Power Index (NPI). Among teams that did not earn an automatic bid, the Diplomats rank 13th and are 25th overall in the NPI.
This weekend's regional, which will be announced during the selection show, will feature the first two rounds of the tournament, with the First Round (Round of 64) occurring on Friday, March 6. The Regional Final (Round of 32) is slated for Saturday, March 7. Third Round (Sweet 16) games will be played across Friday, March 13, and Saturday March 14, while the Elite 8 and Semifinal games will be played between Thursday, March 19, and Saturday, March 21, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The DIII Men's Basketball Championship Game will occur on Sunday, April 5, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, as all three divisions of NCAA Men's Basketball will see their championship games contested in Indianapolis during that weekend.
