BALTIMORE, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall baseball team (12-8, 0-2 CC) opened Centennial Conference (CC) play on the road, facing No. 4 Johns Hopkins (19-4, 2-0 CC) Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays held off the Diplomats, 3-1, in game one before completing the doubleheader sweep with a 13-3 win in game two.

Game 1: No. 4 Johns Hopkins 3, Franklin & Marshall 1
Franklin & Marshall jumped in front early with a run in the second, but Johns Hopkins responded with two home runs in the contest to slip past the Diplomats in game one.
F&M got started on offense in the top of the second as
Nick DiGiacomo walked and advanced to second on a passed ball. With two outs,
Gideon Schwartz roped a double to left field to score DiGiacomo for the first run of the game.
The Blue Jays tallied solo homers in the third and fourth innings to overtake F&M on the scoreboard, 2-1.
In the top of the sixth, F&M threatened by loading the bases with just one out in the frame. However, the chance was halted by a double play as the Blue Jays escaped the jam without any damage.
Five Diplomats notched a hit with Schwartz and
Nick Lorenzo both recording doubles in the contest.
Kiernan Keller (2-2) was tagged with the loss as he struck out five and allowed two earned runs in 5.1 innings of work.

Game 2: No. 4 Johns Hopkins 13, Franklin & Marshall 3 (Seven Innings)
F&M took an early lead on a solo home run in the first inning. However, the Blue Jays responded with four homers of their own, plating multiple runs in four of the seven innings to run-rule the Diplomats and secure the doubleheader sweep.
In the top of the first,
Tanner Wolpert crushed his third home run of the season over the right field wall to put the visitors ahead, 1-0. The Diplomats continued to add onto the lead in the second as
Enrico Tufano ripped a double into right center field to score Lorenzo, giving the Diplomats a 2-0 advantage.
Johns Hopkins responded in the bottom of the second with four runs on four hits to take a 4-2 lead over F&M. However, the Diplomats came right back in the third as Wolpert walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. DiGiacomo followed with a double to left field, plating Wolpert to trim the deficit to a run.
The Blue Jays used a two-run homer in the bottom of the third to extend their lead to 6-3. F&M looked to answer in the fourth as Tufano and
Michael von Zuben both singled, but JHU got out of the inning with a fly out for the third out.
Johns Hopkins led 10-3 as F&M put together a promising start to the top of the fifth.
Matt Hollender and Lorenzo both singled to put runners at the corners with two outs. However, the Blue Jays got the third out on a strikeout to deny the Diplomats of scoring.
Six Diplomats tallied hits with Tufano recording two hits in the game. DiGiacomo, Tufano, and Wolpert all registered an RBI each, while Wolpert notched two runs-scored in the contest.
David McGeorge (3-2) suffered his second loss of the season, striking out three and allowing seven earned runs in 3.1 innings pitched.
Franklin & Marshall looks to get back in the win column on Tuesday, hosting Haverford at Penn Medicine Park. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
