GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The No. 35 Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (7-4, 1-1 CC) earned its fifth sweep of the season and its first Centennial Conference (CC) win of the year as it blanked Gettysburg (3-9, 0-3 CC) in Tuesday evening's match. The Diplomats earned two wins in doubles, followed by six victories in singles to come away with the shutout-win.
The duo of
Luke Brodsky and
Zac Ashtiani eased past their opponents in the No. 1 match, 6-1, to record their seventh win together this season. The pairing of
Gonzalo Gentou and Soren-Rudin Aulenbach held off their opponents in the No. 3 match, 6-4, to secure the doubles win for F&M. The tandem now has six victories together this spring.
Samuel Donnelly became the first Diplomat to reach 10 singles' wins this season as he won the No. 2 match in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-4. Ashtiani and Rudin-Aulenbach both improved to seven wins each this year, winning their respective matches in straight-sets. Ashtiani won the No. 1 match, 6-3, 6-3, while Rudin-Aulenbach came out on top of a 6-4, 6-0 victory in the No. 3 match.
Ian Alonso overpowered his opponent in three sets, 6-7, 6-2, 1(10)-0(6), to take the No. 5 match for his fourth victory of the season.
Hugh Outwater upended his opponent in the No. 6 match, 7(7)-6(1), 6-4, to pull away with his third singles' win of the year.
Jack Gelman ended the day for the Diplomats as he earned a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 4 match for his second victory this spring.
No. 35 Franklin & Marshall takes on No. 7 Johns Hopkins in a non-conference match on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
