CAMDEN, N.J.- The Franklin & Marshall women's rowing team raced in the program's second event of the spring in Saturday and Sunday's Knecht Cup Regatta, with all three crews advancing to their respective Petite Final.
The Diplomats entered a pair of Varsity 8+ crews and one Varsity 4+ crew into the DIII events at the regatta which featured heats on Saturday to determine Sunday's finals.
F&M's Varsity 8+ lineup featured, from bow to stern,
Skyler Houghton,
Ruth Donohue,
Kate Smith,
Savanna Maness,
Nancy Nguyen,
Audrey Zawoiski,
Sarah Blum,
Louise Truong, and
Lauren Caltrider as coxswain. The crew finished in fourth place in Saturday's heat with a time of 7:46.26 to qualify for the Division III Petite Final. They claimed third place in the Petite Final in 8:12.43.
The Diplomats' second Varsity 8+ lineup included, from bow to stern,
Yvette Wang,
Araya Vastani,
Brigitte Chen,
Zoey Zhao,
Maya Beda,
Claire Axelrod,
Amy Ni,
Hazel Abello, and
Manal Fatima as coxswain. After setting a time of 9:13.79 for fourth place in Saturday's heat, the crew was unable to compete in Sunday's Petite Final to due an equipment issue on the crew's warmup.
The Diplomats also entered one Varsity 4+ crew that featured
Autumn Lingle,
Elizabeth Ripperger,
Elena Jenkins, Blum, and
Macy Bush as coxswain. The crew earned fourth in their heat with a time of 9:20.88 to earn a Petite Final place. On Sunday, they race to a second place finished in the Division III Petite Final with a time of 9:41.14.
"It was an exciting and competitive weekend for women's rowing, with our young rowers continuing to learn, develop and become racers," said Head Coach
Bob Brady. "We had some good races throughout, and it is unfortunate not that our second 8 had equipment issues, but we're taking what we learned this weekend into next week and into our next regatta."
F&M will compete against Bryn Mawr in the Upper Schuylkill Challenge on Saturday, April 18.
