HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (9-9, 6-2 CC) was defeated by Haverford (11-10, 7-1 CC) in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament Thursday afternoon. The Fords won two doubles and two singles matches to advance to Saturday's conference championship.
Sahara Ahmad and
Rebecca Bellick battled in No. 1 singles, but came up short in a 6-2 loss. Haverford secured the victory in doubles during the No. 3 match as the pairing of
Kakie Colclough and
Sarah Miller were defeated, 6-1.
The Fords took an early advantage in singles as they won the both the No. 1 and No. 2 matches in straight-sets. Haverford completed the victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 6 match to advance in the tournament. Bellick (No. 3), Colclough (No. 4), and
Sophia Rhazali (No. 5) all were leading after one set in their respective matches, but all three matches went as unfinished.
Franklin & Marshall ends its season with a 9-9 overall record with a 6-2 Centennial Conference record, concluding the year ranked as No. 41 in the nation.
