FORT PIERCE, FL -- Gary Kruger (So., East Islip, NY/East Islip) went four-for-five at the plate with two RBI and a run scored, while pitcher John Walsh (Sr., Havertown, PA/Haverford) threw four scoreless innings to earn the win as the Franklin & Marshall College baseball team downed American International College 14-2 in spring break baseball.
The Diplomats took an early lead in the top of the first with a run before tacking on a solo run in the fourth and four in the fifth to hold a 6-0 lead. AIC got to reliever Scott Solomon (Sr., Birmingham, AL/Mountain Brook) for a run in the bottom of the fifth and registered another in the sixth for their only runs of the game as Walsh and Solomon combined to allow six hits while striking out nine.
F&M finished the scoring with three runs in the sixth and five in the seventh to take the win and improve to 7-6 on the year.
F&M will continue the season on March 19 versus Grinnell in Fort Pierce, Florida.
