SWARTHMORE, PA -- Scott Solomon (Sr., Birmingham, AL/Mountain Brook), Jeremy Knox (So., Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) and Todd Cagwin (Jr., Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) combined for a three hit shutout allowing only two base runners to reach second base in a 12-0 victory at Swarthmore College.

The Diplomats cracked the scoring column first in the second inning as Dan Weber (Sr., Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) lined a single to leftfield. Gordie Eck (Sr., Columbia, PA/Lancaster Catholic) laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner to second before Corey Caruthers (So., Conestoga, PA/Penn Manor) scored Weber on a single to leftfield. The run ignited the F&M offense as the Diplomats sent 10 batters to the plate in a six run inning.

Rob Georgiou (Sr., Tappan, NY/Bergen Catholic) made it 7-0 in the top of the fifth as he reached on an error then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Scott Haft (Jr., Jupiter, FL/Jupiter). Georgiou came across the plate as he stole third and scored on a wild pitch.

Franklin & Marshall erupted in the eighth as the blue and white sent nine batters to the plate scoring five runs on four hits for the 12-0 final and the Diplomats second shutout win of the season.

At the plate, Caruthers went two-for-four with two runs scored and two runs batted in, while Georgiou went one-for-two with two runs scored and one RBI. Scott Haft had the lone extra base hit for the Diplomats as he smacked a two run double in the eighth.

On the mound Solomon threw six innings giving up one run while walking five to pick up his team best third win of the season.

Franklin & Marshall (9-6, 1-0 Centennial Conference) will return to action on March 26th at home in Lancaster versus the Garnet Tide in the second game of a CC home-and-home series. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. at Caplan Field.
