Box Score LANCASTER, PA - Kiki Foster (Jr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) scored five goals, including the 100th of her career, and added an assist, while Alexis O'Meara (Sr., Millersville, MD/Severn School) scored four goals and the 100th assist of her career to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse team to a 15-4 win over Swarthmore College to clinch the Centennial Conference regular season championship.
The win secures hosting rights for the Diplomats as Franklin & Marshall will host the 2005 Centennial Conference Championship Tournament on April 30 and May 1 in Lancaster for the first time in school history.
Against Swarthmore, the Diplomats wasted little time in taking the lead as Foster scored unassisted goals at 20:39 and 17:26 for a 2-0 lead. Foster finished a hat-trick at 12:28 by burying an assist from Catherine Onnen (Fr., Lutherville, MD/St. Pauls School for Girls) for a 3-0 lead before Swarthmore's Lindsay Roth and Katie Crawford tallied unassisted goals at 9:43 and 8:18 to pull the Garnet to within a goal.
However, O'Meara scored an unassisted goal at 7:30 and made history by recording her 100th career assist at 5:04 as she fed Foster for a goal and a 5-2 Franklin & Marshall lead.
The Diplomats closed out the first half as Kelly Cassels (So., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) finished a pass from Eileen Keever (Jr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) with 4:40 left until halftime for a 6-2 lead at the break.
Historically, O'Meara raised her career-scoring total to 162 goals and 100 assists for 262 points as she ranks fifth in goals, second in assists and third in points in school history.
Further, she joined Lauren Paul '03 (143-105-248) as the only players in Franklin & Marshall history to record 100 goals and 100 assists in a career and moved to within six assists of surpassing Paul for the all-time women's lacrosse record at F&M in assists.
In the second half, Foster fed Onnen for a goal at 28:34 before O'Meara ripped a pass from Cassels into the goal at 25:46 for an 8-2 lead.
Swarthmore pulled to within five goals as Niamh Shortt finished a pass from Ele Forbes at 18:58, but Foster tallied her fifth goal of the game and the 100th of her career at 16:13 to ignite a 6-0 run by the Diplomats.
Foster becomes the 20th Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse player to score 100 goals as she surpassed her head coach, Ann Phillips '77 (99 goals), for 20th on the goals list at the College. Further, the 2005 Diplomats become the first team in school history to have three active 100-goal scorers on the roster.
Leading 9-3 after Foster's goal, the Diplomats turned up the pressure as Brenna Dolphin (So., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) tallied a goal off an assist from Keever at 15:44, Alexis O'Meara finished passes from Abby Kaplan (Fr., Bethesda, MD/Bullis) and Ellie Lisle (Fr., Gladwyne, PA/Harriton) at 7:17 and 7:01, respectively, for a 12-3 lead.
Allison O'Meara (Sr., Millersville, MD/Severn School) continued the run by scoring off an assist from Foster at 5:48 before Akemi Moriuchi (Fr., Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown Friends) netted an unassisted goal at 1:21 for a 14-3 lead.
The teams traded goals over the final 60 seconds as Swarthmore's Heidi Fieselmann tacked on an unassisted goal at :58 and Sloan Giampa (So., Cortlandt Manor, NY/Yorktown) closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal with :13 left on the clock.
In goal, Kamissa Mort (Jr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) made five saves and allowed four goals to earn the win, while Swarthmore's Lindsay Roth recorded 10 saves.
Franklin & Marshall (9-2, 8-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 22 at home versus Haverford College in the Centennial Conference regular season finale. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
