F&M loses in OT of Conference Championship;

Box Score BALTIMORE, MD -- The Franklin & Marshall Men's Soccer team's hopes for a Centennial Conference title were spoiled after 96 minutes of soccer as the host and top-seeded Johns Hopkins Blue Jays scored in the first period of overtime, breaking a 1-1 tie and giving the Blue Jays the Conference Championship.

Nick Kosik put Johns Hopkins on the board first scoring in the 73rd minute.

The Diplomats came back and tied the game at 1-1 in the 81st minute when Ryan McGonigle made a beautiful crossing pass into the box from the far touchline and Brandon Corday headed the ball into the upper left corner.

The teams battled back and forth for the rest of regulation, but neither was able to find the net again.

In overtime, Hopkins' Max Venker fired a shot off a loose ball in the box but it was blocked by a Diplomats' defender. The ball ricocheted back to Venker, who then fired a shot low to the left post that eluded goalkeeper Ed Stelz and ended the Diplomat title hopes.

The #19 nationally ranked Diplomats (13-3-3) must now wait to find out their postseason possibilities. The NCAA bracket will be announced on www.NCAASports.com on Monday morning with the ECAC pairings to follow.
