Men's Soccer

Diplomats pick up fourth straight win;

Box Score

Sept. 16, 2006

It was a reversal of fortune Saturday afternoon for the Diplomat men's soccer team, as Dan Wagner's squad - after losing the past three seasons to McDaniel - turned the tables with a 4-0 shutout at McDaniel in Centennial Conference play.

The win was F&M's fourth straight after an opening season 1-0 loss to Elizabethtown.

Chris Campbell got the team going in the opening half when he put one in off of a corner kick situation. Brandon Corday got into the act minutes later, taking a pass from Steven Loscalzo, dribbling between four defenders and putting it in the back of the net.

"That was one of the best goals I've seen in a long time," Wagner commented.

With the score 2-0 at half, Chris Walters upped it to 3-0 when he headed one in off of a Loscalzo cross. Alex Shuptar finished the barrage late in the game, taking a Campbell pass and drilling one home from 40 yards out.

Defensively, Ed Steltz recorded his 15th career shutout, an F&M record for solo shutouts.

The team returns to the road Sept. 20th against Frostburg State before resuming conference play Sept. 22nd against Haverford at home.
