Lebanon Valley Too Much For Diplomats

LANCASTER, Pa. - Lebanon Valley had six players in double figures, led by Suzie Noyes with 13 points and 12 rebounds to defeat Franklin & Marshall 84-74 in non-conference women's basketball action on Monday.

The Flying Dutchmen (10-0) relied on balanced scoring and 92.3 percent shooting from the charity stripe, connecting on 24 of 26 from the free-throw line to keep an unblemished record heading into the holiday break.

Andrea Hoover went a perfect 11-for-11 from the line to end with 15 points. Eryn Schultz also recorded a team-high 15 points for Lebanon Valley.

Sarah Meisenberg scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the second half and Amanda Miceli added a 19-point performance for the Diplomats (5-3).

Only holding a one-point lead at halftime, the Flying Dutchmen took control of the second half to build a lead in the first 1:28 of the second stanza and never look back to remain undefeated.

Schultz and Noyes combined for 12 of the 20 points scored by Lebanon Valley in the first 10 minutes of the second half, helping the Flying Dutchmen take a 60-49 lead.

Franklin & Marshall went on a 9-4 spurt behind seven points from Meisenberg to reach within 62-58 at the 5:59 mark, but Lebanon Valley responded a 9-1 run for a double-digit lead at 71-59. Noyes and Schultz banged in jumpers, before Lori Lidlow drained a trey for a 12-point lead.

It was free-throw shooting that kept the Diplomats out of reach down the stretch with the Flying Dutchmen going 13-for-14 from the line in the final 3:09 of the game.

In the first half, F&M wasted no time on taking an 11-4 lead with two jumpers and six points in the paint. Miriam Marcis connected on two from the charity stripe and Braxton added four straight points to push the lead to 18-10 at the 10:58 mark.

The Diplomats grabbed their first double-digit lead after back-to-back three-pointers by Miceli and Jessica Feldman at 28-16.

Lebanon Valley closed out the half on 7-for-9 shooting from the floor, using a 23-10 run for a 39-38 lead at intermission.

Brittany Braxton was the third player in double figures with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Alison Menna grabbed six boards in the first half to end with seven.

F&M returns to action on Jan. 4, 2008 at the Marymount Holiday Classic. The Diplomats face Manhattanville at 12 p.m.
