Bill Walkenbach got 15 innings of work from his starters in the 16 innings played as Franklin & Marshall swept Swarthmore to run its winning streak to seven games. Dan Tischler (3-0 - New York, NY / Horace Mann) worked a complete game of seven innings in the first game, a 6-2 win. Jeffrey Rowand (3-0 - York, PA / Dallastown) went eight innings in the second, an 11-3 victory.
Tischler surrendered a pair of unearned runs on six hits while striking out five without issuing a walk. Rowand allowed three runs, two earned with three strikeouts. Rowand went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored in the opener. Gordon Pellegrini (Sparkhill, NY / Tappan Zee) was 5-for-5 in the second game with two doubles, two RBIs, and a run scored. Catcher, Dan Farnsworth (Stewartstown, PA / Kennard-Dale) was 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in one run, while Frank Hurd (Warwick, RI / Warwick Veterans) went 2-for-5 three runs driven in on a base clearing double. He touched home twice.
Franklin & Marshall moved to 13-8 (7-1 CC) while Swarthmore dropped to 2-16 (0-8 CC). The Diplomats return to action on Tuesday against Washington.
