ANNVILLE, Pa. - Beth Holt matched a career high with 20 points
and Cara Landolfi notched her third double-double of the season
with 10 points and 12 boards to lead Franklin & Marshall over
Lebanon Valley 70-49 in non-conference women's basketball action on
Saturday.
Holt, who scored 20 points in Wednesday night's game against
Gettysburg, had a repeat performance to help the Diplomats (8-8)
win their second straight contest. Sarah Meisenberg went 11-for-14
from the charity stripe to finish with 17 points and six rebounds.
Andrea Hoover was the lone player in double figures for the
Flying Dutchmen (11-5) with 16 points.
F&M shot a season-best 61.1 percent from the floor and held
Lebanon Valley to just 28.1 percent from the field to even its
record.
After a close first half, the Diplomats dominated the final 20
minutes to post a 21-point win. F&M gradually built its lead
throughout the second half, starting with two Pauley layups and a
Holt fast-break layup for its first double-digit advantage at
38-27.
The Diplomats kept a steady 8-10 point lead over the next five
minutes, until Sara Wolman's three-pointer sparked a 17-7 run to
give F&M a commanding 65-45 lead.
In the final 4:33 of the game, the Diplomats went 11-for-12 from
the free-throw line to secure the win.
Lebanon Valley hung in the first half, tying the game on five
occasions and causing a lead change four times before F&M
pulled out ahead in the final 2:12. Lori Lidlow drained a
three-pointer at the 6:05 mark to give the Flying Dutchmen their
last lead of the game at 19-16.
From there, Holt collected back-to-back triples and Allison
Bauer hit a free throw at 23-19. Meisenberg drove in for the layup
and Lidlow added another two points for a 25-21 Diplomat lead at
halftime.
Landolfi's 12 rebounds ties a career high and her three blocks
marks a new career best. Pauley tied a season best with 10 points,
while adding five rebounds.
F&M returns to action on Wednesday at Bryn Mawr. Game time
is 7 p.m.
