LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's
women's swim team remained perfect in Centennial Conference
(CC) competition this season with a 125-54 win over McDaniel Friday
night. The Diplomats moved to 6-4 (5-0 CC) on the season, while the
Green Terror dropped to 0-7 (0-5 CC).
The Diplomats registered the fastest time in each of the
night's ten races. Olivia Hill was a triple winner with
victories in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.87) and the 200 and
500-yard freestyle with respective marks of 2:02.61 and 5:21.38.
Brittany McCabe posted top times in three events as well. She
won the 100-yard backstroke with a 59.45, giving her six seconds on
the field. She edged out teammate Meghan Karanian in the
50-yard free by .45 seconds. McCabe clocked a 25.40, while Karanian
posted a 25.85.
McCabe started F&M off on the right foot swimming the first
leg in the first race of the night for the winning 200-yard medley
relay team. Samantha Sweeney, Jenny Payne and Katherine DeCrosta
joined McCabe in that race. The group finished in 1:55.10, six
seconds in front of F&M's second-place entry.
Payne went on to win the 100-yard free with a 55.92. DeCrosta
followed Payne to the wall at 57.05. As an exhibition entry
after the outcome had been decided, Sweeney swam a 1:12.86 in the
100-yard breaststroke for the top time in that race. Payne,
Karanian, Emily Zacherl and Garland Bartlett produced the best mark
in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:46.68.
The Diplomats will put their unblemished Centennial mark on the
line at Dickinson tomorrow afternoon before returning home next
Saturday to close out the regular season against Gettysburg. Both
the Red Devils and the Bullets are unbeaten in Centennial action so
far this season.
