SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore's Dylan Langley's blast in the
16th minute stood as the game-winner as the # 6 Garnet
defeated Franklin & Marshall 1-0 in a Centennial Conference
(CC) men's soccer game. Swarthmore's (13-1, 5-1) defense held off a
late attack by the Diplomats (8-5-1, 4-2 CC) as F&M fired off
two shots in the twenty seconds of action.
Langley's goal came at 15:09 when he scored off a Fabian Castro
feed at the top of the box. The goal marked Langley's first
of the year.
The Diplomats had plenty of scoring opportunities, shooting 14
times. None were bigger than the two Eric Noto took in the last
twenty seconds of play. Noto had a shot at 89:30 which was blocked
and his header at 89:57 was stopped by Garnet keeper David
D'Annunzio.
Swarthmore held a slight advantage in shots, 16-14 and had seven
corners to the Diplomats' three.
Zach Zamek took the loss, stopping five shots. Zamek falls to
8-5-1. D'Annunzio earns the win, picking up six saves.
Franklin & Marshall returns to the field on October
24th when the Diplomats host Johns Hopkins.
