CARLISLE, Pa. - After 120 minutes of play, Franklin &
Marshall and Dickinson remained in a scoreless 0-0 draw on the
grass in Carlisle.
The tie was the second in as many Saturdays, and may have set up
an opportunity for the two sides to settle things on Wednesday,
pending the outcome of tonight's Washington/Johns Hopkins match. A
Hopkins win would send F&M back to Dickinson for the opening
round of the Centennial Conference Championship Tournament.
With the weather turning on both teams in the second half,
scoring opportunities were few and far between. The match was
evenly played, and the action resided primarily in the midfield.
Dickinson outshot F&M 21-7, but Zach Zamek was up to the
challenge, turning away all eight that were destined for the inside
of the net. At the other end, Cody Hickok turned away F&M's
three shots on net.
F&M's Mike Irving played well with repeated solid
possessions in the middle for F&M. Charlie Welch played a gutsy
match for F&M.
The Diplomats will play in Wednesday's first round game, with
the site and opponent to be determined.
