LANCASTER, Pa. - With two-thirds of the sessions on the books, Franklin & Marshall's men remain in second place at the 2009 F&M Swimming Invitational, however, The College of New Jersey increased its lead during Saturday evening's session. The Diplomats women dropped from fourth place into sixth over the course of Saturday evening.

The Diplomat men picked up the bulk of their points with second place finishes.

Tom Grabiak took second in the 100-yard breaststroke behind TCNJ's Myles O'Connor. O'Connor touched at 57.90, .23 seconds ahead of Grabiak. Matt Jaffee finished in second in the 100-yard backstroke. Gettysburg's Matt Libby squeaked out a .08 second win in the race with a time of 53.47.

Grabiak, Jaffee, Peter Fishler and Conor Finnegan combined for second place in the 800-yard free relay. The F&M foursome finished nearly 14 seconds behind the first place group from TCNJ. That was the same order of finish as the night's first relay, a tightly contested 200-yard medley. The team of Grabiak, Jaffee, David Apple and Tom Bergstrom posted a 1:36.66, just behind TCNJ's 1:35.85. Apple finished in fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly, while Fishler contributed ninth place points in the event.

TCNJ has a commanding 220.5 point lead on F&M in the men's team standings. The Diplomats hold a 66-point advantage over third place Gettysburg.

Ana Franzluebbers finished in sixth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:58.62. Margaret Molloy of TCNJ won the event in 1:55.24. Laura Bassford placed seventh in the 400-yard I.M. with a 4:55.12. St. Mary's (Md.) freshman, Kelly Heyde won the race with 23 seconds on the field at 4:33.71.

F&M is in sixth place entering Sunday, 12 points behind Gettysburg, 16 points behind St. Mary's and 60 points behind Washington College. Kutztown and TCNJ are locked in a battle for first place with KU holding a 431-425.5 lead heading into the final session.
