LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall senior
Justin Herbert is not ready to call it a career
quite yet. The Diplomats' 174-pound senior was one of 52
wrestlers selected for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship
Tournament when the field was announced on Wednesday.
Herbert and the other 51 at-large selections will join the 278
automatic qualifiers in St. Louis when the NCAA Division I
Championships get underway next Thursday, March 19.
Herbert owns a career record of 82-37 with a school record of 35
pins. He ranks fifth on the F&M career wins list, one victory
ahead of Mike Parziale '06 and one behind Hall of Famer, Vic
Bernardino '94.
Herbert is F&M's first NCAA Qualifier in 11
years. Brendan James '98, a three-time team MVP,
qualified for the 1998 NCAA Championships at 150 pounds after
placing second at the EIWA Championships. James was the last
Diplomat to wrestle at the National Championships.
