GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Giuseppe Bua's late goal propelled Franklin
& Marshall to a 1-0 victory over Gettysburg in Centennial
Conference (CC) men's soccer action Wednesday evening. The
Diplomats (6-2-1, 2-1 CC) remain unbeaten in their last five trips
to Gettysburg, going 4-0-1 since 2002.
Bua scored his second goal of the season off of a feed from Rob
Hassler. Hassler received a corner kick and sent the ball to Bua,
who found the back of the net at the 85:13 mark.
The Bullets (4-3-2, 1-2 CC) had plenty of scoring opportunities,
firing off 12 shots, but were unable to connect. F&M matched
Gettysburg with 12 shots and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Jamie Hahn took the loss for Gettysburg. Hahn stopped four shots
and falls to 0-3 on the year.
Zach Zamek earned his 16 career shutout stopping two shots and
improves to 6-2-1. Zamek is slowly climbing the record book at
Franklin & Marshall. After tonight's game, Zamek sits atop the
career goals against average with .83 per game. He currently has 29
career wins, placing him third, just six shy of Ed Stelz '06 who
has 35.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action Saturday October
3rd when they host Haverford. Game time is set for 7:00
pm.
