LANCASTER,
Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women kicked off the
second-semester portion of its slate with a 9-0 sweep of Wellesley
in a college squash businessperson's special. All of the
Diplomats (2-3) swept their Blue Pride (0-11) opponents 3-0 in the
noon meeting.
The victory was F&M's second in a
row after opening the season with three-straight opponents from the
Ivy League. No. 1 Morgan Smith and No. 2 Ellie Foster each yielded
only eight points en route to victory. With her second win in as
many matches, No. 7 Courtney Mulligan posted the 25th
victory of her career to draw even at 25-25.
No. 4 Sheena Suckoo and No. 5 Tanya Arora
picked up their first wins of the season. Suckoo surrendered only
three points to Emaline Surgenor in her win while Arora allowed
Lindsay Rico five total points.
With the fourth win in as many matches with
Wellesley, the Diplomats have recaptured the series lead with an
8-7 edge. The Diplomats will look to get to .500 on the year
tomorrow afternoon against Hamilton. The men and women get underway
at 2:00 p.m.
