Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – 110 minutes of action failed to produce a
winner as Franklin & Marshall and No. 2 Swarthmore battled to a
0-0 tie in Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer action Saturday
afternoon. The Diplomats go to 6-3-3 (4-1-2 CC) while Swarthmore
goes away with an 11-0-2 (4-0-2 CC) mark.
Zach
Zamek played lights out defense in the box all afternoon for
F&M. The senior keeper stopped seven shots, none bigger than a
penalty kick Swarthmore took in the second half. In the 60th
minute, Garnet forward Fabian Castro was taken down in the box and
his ensuing penalty kick went to the right, where Zamek stopped it
with ease.
The Diplomats created a few scoring opportunities in the game from
Giuseppe Bua. Bua took a shot from eight yards out in the 38th
minute, only to miss left. He had another opportunity with just
under three minutes remaining in the game when he headed the ball
and barely missed the net.
The Garnet outshot F&M 15-7, while the Diplomats held a 5-4
edge in corners.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action next Saturday at Johns
Hopkins. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
