MINNEAPOLIS – Tom Grabiak closed out his career at
Franklin & Marshall in All-American fashion, placing fifth in
the 200-yard breaststroke on Saturday, the final day of competition
at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. The
fifth place finish makes Grabiak an All-American for the second
time this weekend, and the sixth time in his career.
Grabiak swam a 2:02.22 to finish 1.08 behind the national
champion, Ian Bakk of Kenyon. Bakk swam a 2:01.14 to secure to the
national championship.
Grabiak swam the sixth fastest time in qualifying at 2:02.69.
Only two swimmers qualified under the 2:02 mark, Buck and David
Lazarus of Kenyon. Buck swam a 2:01.28 to earn the top seed,
followed by Lazarus at 2:01.75. Bakk went fifth in the qualifier,
.07 seconds faster than Grabiak.
