LANCASTER, Pa. – Jeff Butera's RBI single in the eighth
broke a 4-4 tie and secured a 5-4 win for Haverford over Franklin
& Marshall in a Centennial Conference (CC) baseball game Sunday
afternoon. The Diplomats fell to 12-17-1 (7-9 CC) while the Fords
improved to 21-10 (12-5 CC).
Louis DeRosa struck out to start the eighth frame, but reached
first when the ball squirted loose from the catcher's glove.
DeRosa stole second and advanced to third on a ground out by Jake
Chaplin. Butera's single came in the next at-bat, giving the Fords
the 5-4 victory.
The Diplomats struck first with two runs in the first inning.

Triantos singled in the second at-bat and
Matt Will walked,
giving F&M runners on first and second. Coach Taylor called for
a double-steal and both runners advanced a bag.
Bill Murray hit a
single down the leftfield line, plating Triantos and Will, putting
F&M up 2-0.

Devlin's single in the second, scored Russell
Tischler as the Diplomats built a 3-0 edge. F&M added
another run in the fifth when
Bill Murray hit a single up the
middle, scoring Triantos, for a 4-0 Diplomats lead.
Haverford answered with back-to-back two run innings in sixth
and seventh to tie the game at four setting up Butera's single in
the eighth.
Murray finished 3-for-4 from the plate and knocked in three
runs. Will went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
Collin
McCune (0-1) was saddled with the loss. McCune worked two
innings and gave up the run in the eighth.
Josh Gray started
the contest and pitched five scoreless innings. Gray struck out
five and gave up two runs.
Ben Regan picked up the win and improved to 2-0 on the year.
Regan worked four scoreless innings.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Tuesday when the
Diplomats travel to Clipper Magazine Stadium to take on the
Lancaster Barnstormers in an exhibition game. First pitch is slated
for 5 p.m. F&M travels to York on Wednesday for a 4 p.m.
ballgame.
