SWARTHMORE, Pa. – At the third day of the Centennial
Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Franklin &
Marshall saw several top performances and record-breaking times.
The Diplomats finished in a tie for sixth place with Dickinson with
a team total of 60 points.
Johns Hopkins won the conference title with 190 points, followed
by Haverford (185) in second, Muhlenberg and Gettysburg (94) in a
tie for third, and Ursinus (71) in fifth. Swarthmore (46) finished
eighth, McDaniel (11) in ninth, and Bryn Mawr (8) in 10th.
To start things off, the 4x100 relay landed fourth place with a
school record-breaking time. The squad, comprised of Henley
Siegrist, Ariel Lefkovits, Kristen Marinaccio, and Megan Hunter,
clocked in at 50.52, breaking the record of 51.0 set back in
1986.
Sheena Crawley won the 800-meter run in 2:12.60, and with her
time she broke the school record by almost two seconds, in addition
to landing an NCAA provisional mark.
In the finals of the 100-meter dash, Siegrist finished sixth in
13.22 seconds. Megan Hunter earned fourth in the final heat of the
400, crossing the line in 57.77 seconds.
In the 1,500-meter run Crawley took home third with a time of
4:43.79.
Off the track, Catherine Westerduin finished seventh in the high
jump after clearing a height of 4' 8.75". Martha Stefaniak threw a
distance of 34' 10.5" in the shot put for a seventh place
finish.
A few members of the F&M team will travel to Berea, Ohio for
the National Championships on May 27.
