Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's soccer
team gave its parents a double overtime thriller for parents
weekend Saturday night with 0-0 overtime tie.
The game was incredibly physical with 31 fouls recorded total
between the two teams. Fans stuck around as the game went well into
the night lasting 2 hours 15 minutes.
F&M put the pressure on the Shoremen offensively in the
first half taking nine shots to their five. Each team had
opportunities to score on several corner kicks, however the defense
for both teams proved to be too strong. With under a minute to go,
Erik Elicker sent a free shot from 20 yards out that just missed
left of the goal. Elicker's shot ended regulation.
During the first overtime the Diplomats kept their intensity and
offensive pressure on Washington. Giuseppe Bua had
two great shots from ten yards out but the Shoremen's keeper Chris
Phipps made crucial saves. During the second overtime, Shoremen
midfielder Justin Geho made an attempt to end the game with a shot
from ten yards out, but Zack Zamek made his fourth save for the
night.
Franklin & Marshall records its second tie of the season
bringing their overall record to 3-2-2.
Zamek recorded four saves for the night and brings his overall
record to 3-2-2.
The Diplomats return to action at home on Wednesday evening
against Gettysburg. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
