LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall won all but one event en route to a 186-76 trouncing of visiting Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action on Saturday afternoon at the Kunkel Aquatic Center. The Diplomats earn their first win of the year and move to 1-2 (1-0 CC), while the Garnet fall for the first time and are now 2-1 (1-1 CC).

Dennis Chen and David Fell put together the most impressive performances of the afternoon for the Diplomats as both captured three individual events and also teamed up for a relay win.

Chen began his day with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.83, before posting wins in the 100 freestyle (47.94) and 500 freestyle (4:56.50). He later anchored the 200 freestyle relay team to victory in 1:28.99, along with John Zipp, Jin Hwang and Patrick Musselman.

Fell won the 100 backstroke with a mark of 54.62, captured the 200 backstroke in 2:01.66 and took home the 200 individual medley in 2:02.69. He also served as the first leg of the Diplomats' winning 200 medley relay team with William Cappuccio, Zach Wilt and Zipp.

In addition to his 200 medley relay win, Cappuccio also posted multitple individual wins, securing both the 100 and 200 breastroke. He finished the 100 in 1:03.48 and 200 in 2:19.70, edging out Travis Catania in both events. Cappuccio also took third in the 200 individual medley.

Tim Landon captured the 1000 freestyle in 10:19.12, beating the second-place finisher by over 20 seconds. Landon also placed second in the 500 freestyle at 4:58.25.

F&M swept two events on the afternoon, the 100 and 200 butterfly. Richard Denton claimed the 100 in 54.61, followed by Wilt (56.00) and Eliot Scymanski (56.61). Scymanski won the 200 in 2:04.39, while Mason Wash (2:05.25) and Scott Rownd (2:05.39) placed second and third, respectively.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Washington College for a CC matchup at 1:00 pm.
