Box Score YORK, Pa. – York used a two-run seventh inning to break a five all tie and secure a 7-5 victory over Franklin & Marshall in non-conference baseball action Monday afternoon. The Diplomats fell to 20-16 while the Spartans improved to 10-23.
With the game knotted at 5-5, Rob Klick hit a two-out single which plated Justin Cohen for York's first lead of the game. Klick stole second, reached third on a wild pitch and was brought home by a single from Colbey Herr for the 7-5 final.
F&M scored first with three runs in the opening frame.
J.T. Triantos and
Will Benenson picked up back-to-back walks and
Eric Bornstein reached on a single to load the bases.
Russell Tischler brought Triantos and Benenson home with a single to center field for the first two runs on the game while
Blue Wells plated Bornstein with a groundout to shortstop.
York added a run in the bottom of the first before F&M tallied two in the fourth.
Matt Will singled down the left field line to score
Andrew Conlan and
Aaron Gillette for a 5-1 F&M edge. The Spartans countered with a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and tied the game at five with a run in the sixth.
Tom Caramanico took the loss in one inning of work. Tommy Moran earned the win for York and improved to 2-1 on the year.
Gillette finished 1-for-2 with a run scored and Tischler picked up his two RBIs on one hit.
F&M returns to action tomorrow when the Diplomats host Eastern at 3:30 p.m.
