WESTMINSTER, Md. – Franklin & Marshall swept every event with the last two being exhibitions en route to a 61-24 thrashing over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action on Friday evening. The Diplomats remain perfect in the CC improving to 3-2, 3-0 CC while the Green Terror fell to 1-7, 0-5.
The 200-yard medley relay of Steven Latka, Ryan Anella, Eliot Scymanski, and Paul Edwards followed suit with women's 200-yard medley relay and captured first with a time of 1:44.02. Scymanski also took first in the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 5:18.90, while Lakta finished second in the 100-yard backstroke coming in at 1:02.18.
Dennis Chen put together a solid performance winning the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. He finished the 200 in 1:46.70 with teammate David Fell pacing behind him with a time of 1:48.83. In the 100-yard freestyle Chen won with a mark of 47.97, edging John Zipp (49.16) by 1.19.
F&M had first place finishes from Tim Landon in the 400-yard individual medley, Zipp in the 50-yard freestyle, Richard Denton in the 100-yard butterfly, and Fell capturing the 100-yard backstroke.
The Diplomats showed their domination by also taking second in every event but two. F&M saw second place performances by Travis Catania (4:28.34) in the 400-individual medley falling to Landon by 1.50, Zach Wilt competing the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.84 just .59 behind Zipp, and Mason Wash in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 57.94.
F&M will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they host CC opponent Ursinus at 1 p.m.
