BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Martha Stefaniak recorded a record-breaking toss in the discus while Caitlin Regan and Arielle Van Wingerden secured first-place finishes to lead the Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team at the Bloomsburg Husky Open. There was no team scoring in the event.
Stefaniak placed third in the discus with a throw of 130'-02'', besting Bryn Benford's '05 school record (127'-09") by nearly three feet.
Regan ran to a first-place finish in the 800 meters at 2:19.00, while Van Wingerden also claimed gold in the javelin with a throw of 122'-02''.
The 4x400 meter relay squad of Sylvia Zohrabian, Alexandra Hawkins, Kristen Marinaccio and Regan teamed up to place second in the event with a time of 4:11.11.
In the shot put, Livia Meneghin placed third with a toss of 36'-3.00'', while Stefaniak grabbed sixth at 33'-01''.
Hawkins also turned in a top-three individual finish on the day, grabbing third in the 100 meters at 13.67.
The Diplomats put together a strong showing in the 1500 meter run, nabbing spots three through nine. Bridget Grogan was the top F&M finisher in third at 5:32.09, followed in the top-five by Margaret Capp (4th/5:34.34) and Kimberly Hilfrank (5th/5:43.98).
In the triple jump, Catherine Westerduin registered a sixth-place finish with a mark of 33'-06", while Zohrabian secured sixth in the pole vault at 9'-2.25''.
On Friday, Samantha Greenberg represented F&M at the Mondschein Multi hosted by Kutztown. Greenberg took 13th in the heptathlon with 3,033 points.
The Diplomats are back in action on Friday for day one of the Shippensburg Paul Kaiser Classic.
