Van Wingerden Wins Javelin

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Arielle Van Wingerden won the javelin throw to highlight the Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team's performance at the West Chester Open. There was no team scoring in the event.

Van Wingerden delivered a throw of 35.82 meters, besting the second-place finisher by over three meters en route to the victory.

Martha Stefaniak and Kristen Marinaccio each turned in third-place finishes for the Diplomats. Stefaniak took third in both the discus (36.35m) and shot put (10.41m), while Marinaccio nabbed third in the long jump at 4.80 meters.

Alexandra Hawkins placed sixth in the 100 meters with a mark of 13.45, while Livia Meneghin also secured sixth in the shot put at 10.13 meters.

Samantha Walmer finished in eighth in the 100 meter hurdles at 17.45, while Sylvia Zohrabian (9th/27.99) and Hawkins (11th/28.41) turned in solid showings in the 200 meters.

The Diplomats are back in action on Friday for day one of the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships at Ursinus.
