Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall fell to visiting Haverford 1-0 in a physical Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer contest on Saturday night at Tylus Field. The Diplomats drop to 6-2 (0-2 CC) with the defeat, while the Fords even their record at 4-4 (1-1 CC).
It was hotly contested defensive battle from the outset as neither side was able to create many scoring opportunities deep in the attacking zone. The Diplomats outshot Haverford 10-5, but the Fords were able to strike paydirt on one of their few looks at net to seal the win.
In the 56th minute, Haverford's Jamie Reingruber lofted a cross from the right side towards the far post, and Sam Yarosh ran onto the feed and poked it into the back of the net to give the Fords a 1-0 advantage.
The Diplomats furiously pushed forward late in the contest in an attempt to tie things up, but the Fords packed it in defensively down the stretch to preserve the road win.
F&M goalkeeper T.J. White (6-2) takes the loss in net, while the Fords' Andriy Mshanetskyy (4-3) earned the victory with two saves.
F&M is back in CC action on Thursday at Ursinus. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Collegeville, Pa.
