CLINTON, N.Y. - No. 14 Franklin & Marshall posted a 3-0 record over the weekend with wins over No. 34 Northeastern, No. 20 Mount Holyoke, and No. 19 Hamilton. With the three victories, the Diplomats moved over the .500 mark and now hold an 8-7 record.F&M shut out Northeastern 6-0, before topping Mount Holyoke and Hamilton both by a 7-2 margin.
Four Diplomats posted unbeaten records in the three matches. No. 2 Roxanna Mead had an impressive weekend, edging out her opponents in two key, tight matches in the wins over Hamilton and Mount Holyoke. Mead took down Hilary Gray of Hamilton in four games, 11-4, 12-10, 6-11, 11-9, and defeated Mount Holyoke's Sherouk Omar in a marathon five-gamer, 8-11, 11-8, 11-6, 5-11, 12-10. She also rolled to a three-game win against Northeastern.
Jazmin Matos (No. 4), Elizabeth Gatling (No. 5), and Katherine Perry (No. 6) also posted unblemished marks on the weekend. Matos rolled to three straight game wins, Gatling pulled out a pair of four-game victories, and Perry dropped just one game in her trio of wins.
No. 1 Emily Caldwell earned victories against both Hamilton and Northeastern, while No. 8 Cris Margaret Frias and No. 9 Dana Rapisarda each prevailed in three straight against Hamilton and Mount Holyoke. No. 7 Krista Lancione also picked up a pair of victories for the Diplomats, delvering straight game wins against Mount Holyoke and Northeastern. Chelsea Ross tallied a victory at No. 3 in F&M's defeat of Northeastern, and was narrowly edged in a lengthy five-gamer against Hamilton's Claire Corroon.
The Diplomats return to action Saturday at Haverford with matchups against the Fords and Johns Hopkins.
