Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. -- Two second half goals proved to be the difference as Franklin & Marshall fell 3-1 to Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer action Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats dropped to 9-3-2 (2-3-1 CC) while the Fords improved to 9-4-1, 3-2-1 CC.
Haverford struck first with a goal in the sixth minute and took an early 1-0 advantage before the Diplomats answered in the 26th minute when Connor Finn netted his third goal of the year. Sam Lane took a penalty shot, which was stopped by the Fords keeper, but the ball went back and play and Finn was there to tap the ball home.
The teams went back-and-forth the remainder of the half with the Diplomats firing off two shots, but none were able to sneak through.
42 seconds into the final stanza, David Robinson chipped the ball from outside the box to Tejan Walcott who found the back on the net for the eventual game-winner. The Fords continued to attack, outshooting F&M 6-2 over the 21 minutes before Ford Bohramann buried a pass from Colin Seitz to make it 3-1.
F&M was unable to generate much offense the remainder of the contest and the Fords controlled the remainder game to secure the win.
T.J. White turned away four shots and went to 9-3-2 while Sam Miller improved to 2-1-1 with six stops for the Fords.
Haverford held a slight advantage in shots, 15-13, while the Diplomats had a 6-5 edge in corners.
F&M returns to action Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. contest before hosting Dickinson on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
