Series History: Franklin & Marshall travels to Whittier, Calif. to take part in the Purple and Gold Poet Classic hosted by Whittier. The Diplomats tip-off against Lewis & Clark on Sunday, Dec. 29 and take on Pacific Union the following afternoon. Continuing non-league play, F&M travels to Connecticut to battle Wesleyan on Saturday, Jan. 4. It will be the first time F&M has played these three teams in school history.
Block Party: F&M leads the Centennial Conference (CC) and ranks 30th nationwide with 5.1 blocks shots per game. Kristina McCarthy ranks 22nd in the country and leads the CC with 2.75 blocks per game.
Last Time Out for F&M: Jessica Dowicz and McCarthy each scored in double-figures to lead the Diplomats past Bryn Mawr 64-27 on Dec. 7 in non-conference action.
Bryn Mawr led early in the first half at 7-4 with 16:29 remaining, but F&M answered with a 16-3 run over the next seven minutes to take the 20-10 advantage with nine minutes to go.
The Diplomats opened the second half with a 16-0 run as F&M held Bryn Mawr scoreless for 5:22 and led 49-19 with 14:38 to go in the contest. The biggest lead of the afternoon came with 3:44 remaining when the Diplomats were up by 38 points, 64-26 as F&M cruised to the victory.
The bench played a key role in the contest for the Diplomats, outscoring the Owls' reserves 30-3 on the afternoon. The Diplomats shot 37.8 percent from the floor, while the F&M defense held Bryn Mawr to only 20.8 percent shooting.
Dowicz paced the Diplomats, finishing with a career-high 14 points and tallying seven rebounds. McCarthy recorded 13 points and nine rebounds, while Sarah Haddon and Hannah Rose Nussbaum notched eight points.
