Track Opens at Jack Pyrah Invite

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall opened its Indoor Track & Field season Saturday afternoon at the Jack Pyrah Invitational hosted by Villanova University.  The Invite featured teams from all three divisions and was a non-team scoring event. 

Rebecca Swisher picked up where she left off last year and tied her own school record in the pole vault. Swisher turned in the best distance by a DIII athlete with a distance of 11' – 5.75". Morgan Gray finished in the top half of the field in the triple jump at 35'-0.50" while Maya Jackson placed fifth out of 12 in the shot put with a throw of 37'-2.25".

Hannah Metheny threw 39'-7" in the weight throw which was good for third place. 

On the men's side, Evan Friend finished in the top half of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.28, which placed him ninth out of 33 runners. Nick Fromell had the top DIII distance in the triple jump at 43'-5.75".

F&M returns to action after the winter break when the Diplomats travel to the Kutztown Invitational on Jan. 17.
