COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Martha Stefaniak placed second in the discus throw to headline the Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team's performance on day two of the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Saturday at Ursinus. The Diplomats currently sit in sixth place with a total of 26 points.
Stefaniak registered a throw of 120'-09" to grab silver in the discus and add eight points to the Diplomats' total. Livia Meneghin recorded an eighth-place finish at 106'-01" to give F&M an additional point in the team scoring.
Samantha Greenberg wrapped up the final three events of the heptathlon, taking sixth place to earn three points for F&M. Greenberg's top heptathlon finish of the day came in the 800 meters as she claimed fourth with a time of 2:34.99.
Kristen Marinaccio registered a seventh-place mark in the long jump with a leap of 16'-07.75".
Several Diplomats qualified for the final heats of their respective events with solid showings on Saturday. Olivia Bendit ran the 200 meters in 26.98 to qualify for Sunday's final, Sheena Crawley posted a qualifying mark of 1:00.34 in the 400, and Samantha Walmer advanced to the finals in both the 100 hurdles (16.42) and 400 hurdles (1:08.35).
The Diplomats conclude competition at the CC Championships tomorrow, beginning with the javelin at 11:00 a.m.
