LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall picked up 12 first-place finishes en route to the 179-83 domination over Washington College on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming action. The Diplomats improved to 1-0, 1-0 CC, while the Shorewomen fell to 0-1, 0-1 CC.
Freshman Bridget Dromerick touched the wall first in two individual events on the day, to go along two first-place finishes in relay events. Dromerick, fellow freshman Melissa Mullin, Courtney Collins, and Jillian Albus put together a time of 1:53.32 in the 200-yard medley relay for first-place points.
Dromerick earned a first-place victory in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:59.78, before a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.36.
Becca Meyers finished first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:14.53, followed by Kellen McDonald in second at 2:18.31.
Albus was impressive today as well, coming up with first-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (25.35) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.49).
Katherine Grant began her senior season with a win in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:18.59, and a second-place spot in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:55.43.
Mullin notched two first-place finishes on the day, winning the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:03.53 and the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:34.17.
Collins touched first in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:14.48, while adding a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:03.53.
In the 200-yard individual medley, freshman Becca Meyers placed first at 2:15.34, followed closely by Collins (2:17.70) and Mullin (2:20.47) in second and third respectively.
The impressive day was capped off by a first-place victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay thanks to the team of Albus, Grant, Meyers, and Dromerick, who finished with a time of 1:44.24.
F&M returns to the pool on Friday when the Diplomats travel to Bryn Mawr for a 6:00 p.m. meet.
