HAVERFORD, Pa. –The No. 17 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team started off its 2014-15 season on the right foot, cruising past No. 33 Haverford by a 9-0 score on Friday evening. The Diplomats did not drop a game through the 11 matchups and are now 1-0 on the year, while the Fords fell to 1-2.
Dulakshi Elikewela (11-3, 11-3, 11-2), Andreina Benedith (11-4, 11-5, 11-4) and Katherine Perry (11-4, 11-5, 11-4) each dominated their respective contests to lead the way at No.'s 1-3. Jazmin Matos at No. 4 (11-5, 11-3, 11-5), Cris Margaret Frias Gonzalezs at No. 5 (11-5, 11-2, 11-6) and Krista Lancione at No. 6 (11-0, 11-4, 11-1) paced the middle of the order for the Diplomats by earning a trio of sweeps.
The bottom part of F&M's lineup was equally as strong with Henrietta Tookie Goelet at No. 7 earning a convincing 11-0, 11-2, 11-2 victory, followed by wins at No. 8 by freshman Lauren Johnston (11-2, 11-3,11-1) and No. 9 by Ashley Strunk (11-2, 11-0, 11-4).
The Diplomats continue action tomorrow when F&M travels to take on Bowdoin (hosted by Trinity College) at 4:00 p.m.
