F&M Falls to Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE, Md. – Franklin & Marshall suffered a setback Saturday afternoon against Johns Hopkins, falling 146-89. The Diplomats fell to 1-2, while the Blue Jays stayed undefeated at 3-0.

In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Patrick Greaney placed third with a time of 10:28.37, while Dennis Chen touched second in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:47.64 as Hopkins swimmer Luke Johnson (1:47.07) barely edged out Chen.

David Burton finished third in the 200-yard butterfly, touching at 2:08.26, while Ryan Caffrey placed first in the 50-yard butterfly at 24.83, followed by Reed Perry in second at 25.17 and Burton in third at 25.83. Caffrey added a third place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.72.

Eric Lang (2:22.19) and William Cappuccio (2:22.75) placed second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard breaststroke, while Lang earned first-place points in the 400-yard individual medley, coming in at 4:28.00. 

In the day's final race, a team of Chen, Perry, Burton, and Caffrey placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.48.

The Diplomats return home to host the F&M Invitational next weekend, beginning with action on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
