F&M Opens Season at Jack Pyrah Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa.  – The Franklin & Marshall indoor track & field team began its 2014 indoor season as a small contingent participated at the Jack Pyrah Invitational hosted by Villanova University.

 Other teams that participated include Cheyney, La Salle, Misericordia, Moravian, St. Joe's (Pa.), Swarthmore, Temple, Widener, and Villanova.

Evan Friend was impressive in the 60-meter dash for the men, finishing seventh out of 34 runners with a time of 7.23. Michael Hoffman finished fifth out of eight in the 60-meter hurdles after posting a time of 8.97.

Maya Jackson claimed silver in the shot put with a throw of 38' -.5" while Livia Meneghin placed fourth at 37'-5.25". Damont Hardnett and Bob McCarron finished fifth and sixth respectively in the shot with throws of 42'-2" and 40'-9.75". 

Rebecca Swisher finished fourth out of seven participants in the pole vault after recording a height of 11-3 3/4 feet.

The Diplomats return to action on January 16th at the Kutztown Invitational.
